Airline Offering Special Sale Fares During First 12 Days of December -
Airtran Airways Offering Special Sale Fares During First 12 Days of December -
AirTran Airways today launched a special 12-day “Festivus For the Rest of Us” sale. Over the next 11 days, the sale will feature new and exciting destinations each day with special fares valid for one day only. New sale fares posted daily.
Today’s feature kicks off with special fares to a Caribbean getaway – Montego Bay, Jamaica – providing rest and relaxation to those who may have just completed a Festivus Feat of Strength.
Similar to the humble beginnings of Festivus that eventually gained legendary status, the sale will grow into something larger each day. Special fares will be posted daily at www.airtran.com/festivus and the number of destinations on sale will correspond with the day of the sale (i.e. seven destinations on sale on day seven, etc.). A final surprise will be unveiled on the 12th day, December 12.
Travelers can purchase these Festivus fares online at www.airtran.com, from their local travel agent or via AirTran Airways’ reservations system at 1-800-AIR-TRAN. For Spanish, call 1-877-581-9842.
These special Festivus fares are available for purchase daily through Dec. 12, 2010, and are good for travel from Jan. 5, 2011, through Feb. 16, 2011. Sale fares are valid for travel daily
Alaska Airlines announced today that customers traveling on Wi-Fi-equipped planes will be able to use Gogo® Inflight Internet service at no cost, courtesy of American Honda Motor Co. Inc., through Dec. 9, 2010.
With Gogo, Alaska Airlines passengers with Wi-Fi-enabled devices can browse the Web; access online music, games, podcasts and webcasts; send and receive e-mail; and connect to virtual private networks while flying. The easy-to-use service provides passengers with full Internet access on any Wi-Fi-equipped laptop or personal electronic device at speeds similar to wireless mobile broadband services on the ground.
Since May, Alaska Airlines has outfitted more than 70 percent of its Boeing 737 aircraft with the Gogo service and expects to complete fleet-wide installation in early 2011.
Aircraft equipped with Inflight Wi-Fi have a Wi-Fi symbol located outside the aircraft’s boarding door and information about the service in seatback pockets. Gogo is available above 10,000 feet, following an announcement approving the use of portable electronic devices.
Customers can visit www.alaskaair.com/wifi for more information about Alaska Airlines’ Inflight Wi-Fi.

Life Change: It’s A Buy Photo: Credit to Chris McClellanWhat’s transformation worth? With Air New Zealand’s “Travel to NZ and Get Your Life Back” fare, wayfarers will jet Los Angeles to Auckland for only $798 roundtrip that must be booked by April 29. Or you can head to life-altering experiences via the airline’s regular economy roundtrip fare as well: under $900 including taxes and fees. Compared to soaring economy fares of up to $3,000 roundtrip in pre-recession peak season, these airfares will lift both body and soul.
And travel to New Zealand will bring another option on June 10, when Qantas introduces new daily service from New York City to Auckland. Because these flights feature conveniently timed connections in Los Angeles, East Coasters will no longer need to fly via alternate carriers before connecting to Qantas aircraft at LAX.
Once on the ground in New Zealand, exchange rates are compelling with the U.S. dollar packing a punch against the Kiwi dollar (USD$1 = Kiwi$1.71), stretching the purchasing power of American travelers in New Zealand. Plus, hotel and tour deals in abundance make New Zealand a “buy.”
