AARP Services, Inc. today announced that it has selected MedjetAssist, North America's premier medical evacuation company, as an AARP travel provider. This will allow AARP's 38 million members to receive an 18 percent discount on Basic and Multi-Year MedjetAssist memberships.

"Medical emergencies can happen to anyone, anytime, and anywhere, but with MedjetAssist, our members will have the peace of mind that no matter where they are in the world, they are never far from quality medical care," said Dawn Sweeney, President and CEO of AARP Services, Inc. "AARP Services is excited to enter into a relationship with a company that sets the standard for the medical emergency evacuation industry."

In the event that MedjetAssist members are hospitalized for an illness or injury more than 150 miles from home-virtually anywhere in the world, whether on a safari in Africa or visiting relatives in another state-MedjetAssist will transport them to their hometown hospital or any hospital of their choice as part of the MedjetAssist membership. MedjetAssist oversees and manages all its members' medical evacuations and missions, working in conjunction with highly qualified medical professionals at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and more than 85 air-service affiliates worldwide.

"We are deeply proud and honored to have been selected by AARP Services as a provider of medical evacuation and repatriation membership services for AARP members," said Roy Berger, president of MedjetAssist. "The AARP brand is synonymous with trust, reliability, and excellence, and this new relationship with AARP Services is a defining moment for MedjetAssist."

AARP discounted member rates are also offered on MedjetAssist's annual, short-term, and Diamond memberships. In addition, MedjetAssist is introducing a new Platinum membership created exclusively for AARP members ages 85 and over. Few credit card coverage and healthcare insurance plans offer this level of protection, as travel expert Peter Greenberg recently noted on NBC's Today Show. Mr. Greenberg called MedjetAssist's medical evacuation protection "essential for anyone who travels."

"Our members are adventurous. Boomers especially are getting passports and traveling the world," said Sweeney. "In addition to offering great travel discounts and deals, this new offering from MedjetAssist can help our members get home in the event of a medical emergency."

To purchase a MedjetAssist membership using the AARP member discount, AARP members can simply call 1-866-809-4061 or log on to www.medjetassist.com/aarp. AARP members are asked to provide proof of valid AARP membership at the time of purchase.
