Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air Announce Winter Escape Sale

Low fares for travel now through March 2009


Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have launched a “Winter Escape” sale featuring low fares to many of the carriers’ destinations in the Lower 48, Canada and Mexico. The fares start as low as $49 each way.

“Now’s the time to travel, with low fares to a variety of great destinations, from warm weather beach resorts to great ski mountains,” said Steve Jarvis, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing, sales and customer experience. “We’re hoping that customers will take advantage of these low fares and our great schedules to plan their holiday travel or a post New Years’ getaway.”


Customers should act fast, as tickets must be purchased by Nov. 24 for travel from Dec. 3 through March 11, 2009.


Sample one-way fares are:

  • $49 between Portland, Ore., and Redmond/Bend, Ore.;
  • $64 between Seattle and San Francisco; $99 between Portland and Las Vegas;
  • $109 between Seattle and Minneapolis/St. Paul; and $209 between Seattle and Anchorage, Alaska.

Fare Rules: Seats are limited and subject to availability. Tickets must be purchased by Nov. 24, 2008. Travel must be completed between Dec. 3, 2008, and March 11, 2009. Tickets must be purchased within 24 hours of making reservation and at least 14 days prior to your departure, except for Mexico, which requires no advance purchase. Blackout dates are on Dec. 19, 20, 27 and 28, 2008 and Feb. 13, 14, 16, 21 and 22, 2009. Passengers may check one bag for free. A second bag may be checked for $25. A fee of $100 will be assessed for each additional checked bag. Additional fees apply to overweight or oversized checked baggage. These fares may be purchased at alaskaair.com or horizonair.com provided the itinerary is no more than eight segments long (a ground segment constitutes one leg of your itinerary). These fares are non-refundable. These fares are only available on Alaska Airlines and/or Horizon Air. Changes made through an Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air Reservation Call Center or Airport Ticket Counter incur a $100 (USD) per person change fee plus applicable fees and any difference in fare. Changes made at alaskaair.com incur a $75 (USD) per person change fee plus applicable fees and any difference in fare.
Fares are subject to change without notice. Traveler is responsible for the following taxes and fees, as applicable: Airport Passenger Facility Charges of up to $9 (amount depends on itinerary), Federal Segment Tax of $3.60 per segment (takeoff and landing), U.S. Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement.
