Ellen Barone

Independent Writer, Web Services Provider, and Content Manager

About

After 15 years in media production for travel and tourism, I work remotely as an independent web service provider and content manager.

I build systems, oversee technology, and keep clients aligned and steadily on course. I also write and edit copy, manage client content, and keep things up to date. I strive to make hard things easy with an ear to the ground for relevant news and trends in the worlds of my clients.

I am based in New Mexico, but as an avid long-term traveler, I am as likely to be logging in from Peru or Portugal as from home. I am currently completing my first book, I Could Live Here: A Travel Memoir of Home and Belonging.

When I’m not discovering a new place, writing, or creating, you'll find me reading, geeking out about cool design and local artisans, researching my latest curiosity, or daydreaming in a hammock.

I love to freelance and collaborate, so if you have an interesting project, please contact me to schedule talks or to create new work.

As an early enthusiast of multimedia platforms– narrative and service journalism, editorial photography, blogs, audio, video, and social – I’ve been curating and creating intriguing, trustworthy, and engaging travel content since 1998.

Sharing insights and information, I’ve traveled to more than 70 countries in pursuit of the world’s most memorable journeys and built a reputation, career, and loyal audience as a trusted travel advisor by offering people meaningful ways to experience the world, along with the products and services that will make their travels – and lives – better.

A group travel blog, YourLifeIsATrip.com was founded on the belief that there is no division between your travels, your life, your soul, your well-being, your relationships, your money, your work, and your play.  The site, recently honored with two first-place writing awards from the Western Chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), features different voices, different subjects, all related by the common theme – life as a trip.  To learn more, visit www.YourLifeIsATrip.com.

Since its soft launch in January 2009, thanks to an assemblage of 90+ contributors, the site has enjoyed rapid growth on the new reader and new subscriber fronts and attracted national media attention. Responsibilities include managing contributor content and postings/promotion schedule, planning editorial direction, and developing strategic partnerships and revenue-producing programs.
