An accomplished independent writer-photographer specializing in travel, Ellen has journeyed to six continents in search of compelling travel tales and evocative images.
Her photographs have appeared in National Geographic Adventure, Outside, Condé Nast Traveler, Islands, The Los Angeles Times Sunday Travel Section, and Spa, to name a few.
She’s written about crossing the Sahara on camel for The Oregonian; fine dining in exotic Marrakech for Australian Gourmet Traveller; expedition cruising in Nicaragua for Cruise Traveller; New Mexico Escapes for Texas Monthly; and much more.
With an eye for the best, the authentic, the innovative and the irresistible, Ellen loves little more than sharing information that will inspire people to travel now, travel smarter and travel often.
Her focus is on travel, adventure, offbeat pursuits, luxury goods, travel gadgetry, photography and rich cultural experiences. She provides custom travel photography and content to travel companies, editorial publications, web sites and destination-based special advertising sections. In addition, she’s a gifted workshop teacher, photo tour leader, radio host and author of several online columns offering advice and information for travelers.
When she’s not off exploring, Ellen and her husband, Hank Barone, a young-adult action/adventure author, enjoy life in the rural mountains of New Mexico.
